Exploitation, slavery, and deaths at the workplace are not collateral damage or anomalies, but predictable consequences of a food system based on rampant consumerism, commodification, and the pursuit of profit at any cost.

If we accept this paradigm, we accept the exploitation of human beings, animals, and natural resources. We accept waste and hunger. We accept a system in which almost everyone (citizens, farmers, workers) loses and only a few are winners. Among the winners are parties who are rarely mentioned in political debate: large-scale distributers and supermarkets that set market parameters.

We need concrete commitments at a regulatory level, mobilization in solidarity with exploited workers, and a culture that properly values food and life itself.

The panel of speakers will be published soon.

This event is free and open to all who are interested. To participate, please book a spot on the website (just click on the “Register” button on the event page and leave your email address). We recommend arriving at the Arena 10 minutes before the start of the event. The organizers reserve the right to reassign your seat if you are not present within 5 minutes of the start.

Terra Madre Salone del Gusto is presented by Slow Food, the City of Turin, and the Piedmont Region. We look forward to seeing you at Parco Dora in Turin from Thursday, September 26 – Monday, September 30. Through food, we can rediscover ourselves as part of nature. #TerraMadre2024.
