Grape varieties of Italy: Trebbiano

Ticketed event

For many years, trebbiano was kept out of the limelight, upstaged by great international white wines like chardonnay and sauvignon blanc.

Today, thanks to the skill of producers who have resisted and reversed this trend, Italy now produces celebrated expressions of some of its classic varieties, from garganega and friulano to greco and verdicchio… and of course trebbiano, which until recently was considered a second-class grape, but which now entices enthusiasts with wines of great quality and value.

The tasting line-up

  • We begin this Taste Workshop in Abruzzo with some classic examples of trebbiano: amphora wine from Cirelli and the Cru Vigneto di Popoli from Valle Reale.
  • Next, we taste trebbiano spoletino from Umbria: Madrevite’s Reminore and Roccafiore’s l’Altrobianco.
  • Then we head north to Romagna, with Bro’ from Noelia Ricci and Piuttosto from Tremonti.
  • We go out with a bang with one of the most charismatic producers of trebbiano, Valentini.

This event is on sale on our website until September 24. During Terra Madre, you can check in with Events Reception to find out if there are still tickets available.

Terra Madre Salone del Gusto is presented by Slow Food, the City of Turin, and the Piedmont Region. We look forward to seeing you at Parco Dora in Turin from Thursday, September 26 – Monday, September 30. Through food, we can rediscover ourselves as part of nature. #TerraMadre2024.
